Teacher, Education Assistant, DICE Coordinator
NIA JOHNSON graduated with an honors B.F.A. in Photography from The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago. She is currently attending Portland State University for her Masters in Education in Curriculum & Instruction. She first explored teaching in Chicago’s Little Village (Latinx neighborhood), where she taught Middle School students Adobe Photoshop and Photography. At Northwest Academy, she works as an Education Assistant and teaches High School classes; Publications and Race History of Oregon, and the Arts After Hours class Middle School Yearbook. She works as the co-coordinator in the Diversity & Inclusion Center for Equity (DICE) committee to provide elements of racial reflection, and insight for both staff, faculty, and students. Nia has been with Northwest Academy since 2017.
