Senior Thesis and Senior Project Teacher, World Languages Department Chair
JULIE ELLINGTON has been teaching in one way or another for more than 20 years in both the U.S. and abroad (much longer if you count a childhood giving quizzes on the encyclopedia to her sisters and friends). Her academic work sits at the intersection of world languages and literature, sociolinguistics, rhetoric and composition, and critical theory. She has a special interest in philosophies of justice, language and power, intersectional feminist movements, and non-traditional curriculum design. Her teaching is anchored in harm-reduction pedagogy, universal design, process-oriented work, and curiosity as praxis. When she’s not in the classroom or reading student work, Julie can be found adventuring across the Pacific Northwest with her two children, writing, reading, tending to her garden, rabble-rousing, or fumbling through DIY home repairs. Julie has been with Northwest Academy since 2006.
